About Anna
I'm currently a Territory Manager at PepsiCo on the Frito-Lay side, which is the food division of the company. I've been in this role for about 10 months after getting promoted on July 27th last year. Before this, I was a District Manager for 2 years managing truck drivers after I moved out to Las Vegas, Nevada for the opportunity. My career journey has been diverse - I graduated college while working for American Airlines as a baggage service office agent, helping people find their lost items and bags. At the same time, I was running my own hair business on the side, specializing in kinky and textured hair. That business became so successful that the university started recommending students to come to me, and many of my clients turned into friends. I also had a presidential internship during college and learned from various CEOs, which really shaped my professional development. In my current role, I work Mondays and Fridays in the office, and Tuesdays through Thursdays I'm out in the market visiting accounts. I introduce myself to new businesses and check in with existing customers to see how I can be a resource for them. I work with different distributors like Cisco and US Foods, create contracts, attend trade shows and food vendor events, and display our products like our cheese machine while doing food samplings. One of my proudest achievements in this role has been securing a partnership with Las Vegas Harry Reid Airport and expanding our product presence there with HMS Host. When I was a District Manager, I had the number one independent Circle K store in Las Vegas, and when CEOs and executives came to Vegas, they made nationwide decisions based on my store - that was a huge accomplishment for me.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
In my industry, I would say learn as much as you can from others, and if you're in a management role, don't be afraid of the feedback from your team. Definitely get feedback on what is and isn't working, and make sure you come in with an open mind and a place where you're willing to learn and have a growth mindset.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say definitely an opportunity is just the training. There's not a lot of training, so a lot of it is being a self-starter. You're asking the right questions, and that's the biggest one - no training. It can either make or break you.
