Her Story

About Christina

I'm the SVP of May 2, a public company listed on the Hong Kong Exchange Stock Market that's headquartered in China. We're a high-tech internet company focused on image, video, design, and editing features with AI, and although we're headquartered in China, it's a global business and we do pretty well in global markets. In my role as SVP, I'm in charge of human resources, office operations, and strategic initiatives like global expansion and global branding. My main area of expertise is strategic initiatives and company strategy, especially on people and culture. In a typical day, besides meetings and discussions with teams, I get to talk with people from the globe - not only people from my company internally, but industry experts from the frontier of AI, foundational model tech experts, and experts in global branding markets. I also allocate quality time for myself to experiment with AI tools, so instead of waiting for the team to give me updates on the latest AI changes, I know how to transform the workforce and process into AI-enabled processes and organizational culture. Before this role, I was the head of HR for Tencent, a very well-known company worldwide, where I was in charge of two sectors - head of HR for the global game investments of Tencent, and also in charge of the corporate HR team, primarily on work design, talent management, and system enhancement initiatives. I've been in the tech internet industry field since 2006, about 20 years now.

Ten minutes with Christina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my philosophy in management, especially in my role, which is to help people find their self-drive and help people find their real motivation. I focus on connecting dots between the individual and the organization, creating a culture that can cultivate their self-drive so we can boost both individual performance and organizational performance. This is my big philosophy, and with that, there are many initiatives and programs that lead the team to achieve that goal. For example, there are talent development programs, training programs, benefits programs to nurture that philosophy, compensation programs to incentivize people who do extremely well, and EAP programs and mental health initiatives to live with that philosophy.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
