Her Story
About Fabia
I began my career in college athletics immediately after graduating from the University of Mississippi, where I competed as a member of the track and field team. While earning my business degree, I also served as a teaching assistant, mentoring and supporting young women as they prepared to enter the corporate world. After a few years, I returned to college athletics as a coach with the intention to pivot into administration. I wanted to focus on improving systems, strengthening operations, and expanding opportunities for women in the industry. I was driven by a desire to continue building on the foundation of equity that opened doors for women in sport. My journey has been one of perseverance, often taking two steps forward only to face unexpected setbacks; but I remained committed to moving ahead so that other young women would feel empowered to do the same. Becoming a senior-level administrator before the age of 30 remains one of my most meaningful professional milestones.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Fabia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I credit my success entirely to the people and mentors who have invested in me; often more than they probably realize. Their guidance and belief opened doors that shaped the opportunities I have today. At the same time, failure has been one of my greatest teachers. Those moments were constant reminders to keep doing the work, stay resilient, and keep moving forward. Without them, I wouldn’t have developed the perseverance needed to reach this point and continue building toward my vision.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One piece of advice from a coach has stayed with me: “Either you do or you don’t—there’s no try.” That mindset transformed how I approach challenges. It taught me to move with conviction, to eliminate hesitation, and to fully commit when opportunities present themselves.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be confident, Show up as YOU, and respect goes a long way
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges: Balancing being a new mother with the changing landscape of college athletics
Opportunities: Endless room for growth through professional development
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide both my work and personal life are integrity, resilience, service, and intentionality.
