01What do you attribute your success to?
My career journey has been shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to helping others. I began my professional career in the medical field, where I co-founded a pain clinic with my former husband, a pain specialist. When he unexpectedly disappeared, I found myself facing significant personal and financial challenges while raising three young children on my own. That experience required me to rebuild both personally and professionally, ultimately strengthening my determination and ability to navigate change.
As I explored new opportunities, I transitioned into real estate appraisal, where I spent four years developing a strong understanding of property valuation, market trends, and investment potential. While I appreciated the analytical side of the business, I quickly realized my true strengths were in relationship-building and working directly with people. That realization led me into real estate sales and development, where I could combine strategic thinking with meaningful client connections.
A pivotal moment in my career came when a developer invited me to help launch a nine-unit townhome community in Nashville. After obtaining my real estate license, I took on a leadership role managing the project from the ground up, overseeing everything from HOA formation and buyer engagement to the overall execution of the community. The development became one of the area's top-selling communities, marking a significant milestone in my professional journey.
I have proudly called Nashville home for more than 30 years. A former soccer player at the University of Kentucky and rower at Vanderbilt University, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology before building a diverse career in clinical research, pharmaceutical sales, business ownership, and real estate. My varied background has given me a unique perspective that allows me to connect with clients from all walks of life and guide them through important life transitions with confidence.
Today, I continue to grow my real estate business while also coaching tennis at a private high school and operating a promotional products company that serves schools and local organizations. I work with buyers, sellers, and investors throughout Nashville, Belle Meade, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, and surrounding communities. I am especially passionate about helping first-time homebuyers, empty nesters, and investors achieve their goals.
What truly sets my approach apart is my focus on building long-term relationships rather than simply completing transactions. I believe real estate is about creating community, not just buying and selling homes. I stay connected with my clients long after closing through gatherings, neighborhood events, and ongoing support. My goal is to ensure that every client feels valued, informed, and connected—not only during the transaction but for years to come. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to fostering trust, creating meaningful relationships, and helping people find a place they are proud to call home.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I credit two remarkable women as the most influential mentors in my life, each helping shape my resilience, perspective, and personal growth during some of my most challenging and transformative years.
One of my most impactful mentors has been my Al-Anon sponsor, Deborah Denson. I met Deborah during a particularly difficult period in my life, and she became a steady source of guidance, wisdom, and emotional clarity as I navigated my divorce and its aftermath. Through countless conversations, she helped me process challenges, shift my perspective, and approach difficult situations with greater acceptance and understanding. Even today, I continue to lean on her insight during stressful moments, valuing her ability to provide calm, grounded advice and help me regain balance when life feels overwhelming.
My other lifelong mentor was my mother, whose unwavering support and encouragement gave me the confidence to persevere through adversity. She consistently reminded me of my strength and capability, even when I doubted myself. During one of the most difficult chapters of my life, she offered both practical and emotional support, reassuring me that I always had a place to return to while fully supporting my decision to build an independent life and raise my children on my own. Over the years, our relationship grew into one of deep mutual admiration, and I cherished the pride she took in my resilience, determination, and accomplishments.
Together, Deborah and my mother helped shape the person I am today. Their guidance, encouragement, and belief in me strengthened my faith, reinforced the importance of perseverance, and taught me the value of seeking support during life's challenges. Their influence continues to inspire me as I navigate both my personal life and professional career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The biggest thing is to sit back and listen to their needs. Be really careful not to immediately jump in and say, oh my gosh, you need to be in this neighborhood, this is perfect for you. I just met with a client yesterday, and I took notes. I said, you just tell me a little bit - go back and tell me your story. She's looking for a house for her mother, and she wants to be close, and it's just getting all those details and making sure it's not just about selling a house and getting them a house to make that commission. It's about finding that perfect home for that client. The only way you do that is by meeting person-to-person and getting to know that client, understanding which neighborhood is going to be a better fit, because I can just tell by meeting with them that this won't be a good fit for them based on our conversation. So I guess my biggest advice is really getting to know your client, asking questions, and really listening to what their needs are.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My career has been shaped by a series of personal and professional challenges that ultimately strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and ability to embrace new opportunities.
One of the most significant challenges I faced was navigating a major life disruption early in my career when my family's medical practice suddenly collapsed. At the same time, I was raising young children and managing the financial and personal responsibilities that came with such an unexpected transition. I had to quickly redefine my professional path while maintaining stability for my family, which required perseverance, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new skills and industries from the ground up.
Another ongoing challenge has been successfully navigating multiple career transitions throughout my professional life. From medical and clinical work to real estate appraisal, development, and sales, each shift required me to rebuild expertise, establish credibility, and develop new professional networks. These transitions often occurred while balancing family responsibilities and financial pressures, making adaptability one of my greatest strengths.
While these experiences were challenging, they also created valuable opportunities for growth. My journey has allowed me to develop a people-centered approach to real estate that prioritizes trust, communication, and long-term relationships. My diverse background also opened the door to real estate development, where I gained hands-on experience leading community projects, overseeing HOA formation, managing buyer relationships, and helping execute successful developments from concept to completion.
The ability to pivot across industries has given me a unique combination of analytical insight and interpersonal skills. My experience as an appraiser sharpened my understanding of property values and market trends, while my background in sales and client service strengthened my ability to connect with people and guide them through important decisions. Together, these skills have expanded my opportunities in residential sales, development, community building, and client-focused real estate services.
Looking back, the challenges I have faced have become some of my greatest teachers. They have shaped a career defined by resilience, reinvention, and a deep commitment to helping others navigate important transitions with confidence and support.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say, obviously, integrity, trust - just your word being your word. The biggest word that comes to me is just trust, and being able to stand behind that. Family is incredibly important, and being able to balance family, social, and work life. You know, when I was going through everything at 40, not being financially supported, I kept my tennis and my friendships - I really kept that balance. I had an amazing babysitter who would come every Thursday and spend the night so I could just get out and take care of myself, even if it was just going to the library and reading a People magazine. She taught me that you've got to have that balance, because you want to do it all and have control, especially as the only parent. But I was able to get self-worth from me, and not just be a mother - I was able to work, develop my tennis game, compete in tournaments, and see myself get better and reach the top level of tennis in Nashville. I'm very much a proponent that God puts things in my path, and I just follow that and know that He is going to take care of me. But you've got to let it go and let Him take care of you, and not try to control it. When I was being controlling and trying to make things happen, things wouldn't work out. When I would let go and just let things unfold, that's when things would lead in the right direction.
