About Laura
I am an educator and musician who has dedicated my career to teaching music and developing young people. For nearly nine years, I have served as a Music, Choir, and Band Teacher at Doddridge County Board of Education in West Virginia, working full-time to help students find their voice, their rhythm, and their confidence through music.
Alongside that role, I have been an Adjunct Faculty member at Salem University since May 2024, teaching remotely and bringing my experience in communication, analytics, and education to college students.
Earlier in my teaching career, I served as a General Music Teacher at Taylor County Board of Education in Grafton, West Virginia, where I worked with middle school students.
Before becoming a full-time music educator, I gained valuable experience in human services and child protection. I worked as a Human Resources Assistant at the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, serving as a part-time screener for the WV Child Abuse Hotline while earning my Master's degree. I also held a similar role at Money Management International in Clarksburg, West Virginia, screening calls for the same hotline.
I hold a Master's degree and a teaching qualification, and I bring the same skills—communication, organization, empathy, and analytical thinking—to every classroom, every student, and every interaction.
Whether I'm leading a choir rehearsal, teaching a band student to read music, or guiding college students through a course, my mission is the same: help people learn, grow, and express themselves. Music is my medium, but teaching is my purpose.
