Her Story

About Lauren

I'm an Account Executive at Brooksource, where I've been for about 9 months now, so I'm still very green in my professional career. This is actually my first job post-grad after graduating from Ole Miss in 2025. In my role, I connect Fortune 500 clients to our IT and engineering staffing and consulting capabilities, helping them scale large migrations, modernization efforts, and investments. I work to understand where my clients are in different phases - whether plan, build, or run - and help them figure out what issues they might run into down the road or are currently going through, then solve them through bandwidth solutions, scale, retention planning, and resourcing strategies. On a day-to-day basis, I do a lot of research about industry trends and economics in specific industries like consumer packaged goods, retail, and logistics. I try to forecast issues that might arise for my clients and position myself as a valued partner. I meet with technology leaders regularly, whether in person, virtually, or via email, to talk through their pipeline projects and how we can support them. I really love how evolving this industry is - it changes on a day-to-day basis, which keeps me engaged. In 5 years, I'm hoping to go through 1 to 2, maybe 3 promotions, since my company does fast promotions based on metrics and performance. I'd love to stay here in Nashville and continue developing my sales skills while hopefully mentoring some newer AEs that come into the market.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received came from my mom, who has worked in HR her whole life and has been a very successful woman in corporate America. She really helped me understand what to anticipate in my career, and she could see it coming from a mile away with my career development. The biggest thing that she reminds me is be confident and be curious. Without confidence, you're obviously not going to be able to display your capabilities, and if you're not curious, you're not going to learn. So I think those are the two main things that she reminds me, and I try to instill with myself on a day-to-day basis.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say it's very important to let your true character shine through and be as authentic as possible. Everyone, all we talk about nowadays is authenticity, which is, of course, super important. But also being educated and doing the research, doing the background knowledge, so you come in with as much preparation as possible, prepping for anything you possibly can, whether it be an interview or a meeting. Having that knowledge whenever you walk into it makes you come off more polished and professional, and I think being younger, too, in this industry, that is what's going to set you apart from others.
