Alliance Group Services, LLC
Enfield, NH 03748

Mackenzie Lewis, MBA, SHRM-CP, is a Human Resources Coordinator at Alliance Group Services, LLC in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. After relocating from Texas, she joined Alliance Group and quickly found her passion in human resources within the construction industry. In her role, Mackenzie focuses heavily on talent acquisition and recruitment, helping the organization attract, develop, and retain skilled workers. She works closely with local schools, career and technical centers, and community colleges to create pathways into the trades, while also supporting HR functions such as employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, workers’ compensation, and leave management.

Before transitioning into HR, Mackenzie built a strong foundation in healthcare operations and management. She spent several years at University Medical Center, where she held supervisory and management roles overseeing frontline hospital operations and staff engagement. She later worked as a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Project Coordinator at Covenant Health, where she coordinated accredited education programs for healthcare professionals. These experiences strengthened her leadership, project management, and communication skills, which she now applies to workforce development and organizational support in the construction industry.

Mackenzie earned a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration and Management from Texas Tech University, where she also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature. She is a SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and serves as an Executive Council Member for the Young Adults Advisory Council of New Hampshire, advocating for young adult mental health awareness and equitable representation. Known for her relationship-driven approach, Mackenzie is passionate about building community connections, supporting professional growth, and helping organizations cultivate strong, engaged workforces.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to kindness and humanity. While it may not be the conventional answer, I firmly believe that the care and respect we show others—and the care and respect shown to us—play a pivotal role in professional growth. When you invest in elevating those around you, particularly your direct reports, and provide them with the time, attention, and support they need, it benefits everyone. My achievements are built on the success of the teams I’ve worked with; their growth has been integral to my own. I believe that approaching work with empathy, recognizing that we all start from similar places, and helping each other rise is the most powerful way to grow and develop—both as individuals and as leaders.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that success isn’t just about what you know—it’s about who you know. I grew up hearing my parents say that, but it didn’t fully resonate with me until I stepped into this role. Now, when I attend events or meet people in the community, I’m often recognized and remembered by name across Vermont and New Hampshire. Experiencing the real-time impact of networking has been incredible. As someone who has navigated social anxiety and the challenges of public speaking, knowing that people have a positive association with my name and genuinely want to collaborate with me feels like one of my most meaningful accomplishments.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is: never underestimate the power of a conversation. Looking back, many of my missed opportunities and regrets stem from not initiating a conversation when I had the chance. You’d be surprised how often simply reaching out, asking questions, or expressing interest opens doors. No one can say “no” to you if you don’t try.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is supporting small employers, particularly those with fewer than 50 employees. Many of these organizations struggle with employee relations or rely on outsourced payroll services, which can delay answers to important questions for several days. Having accessible, local support—someone who can provide guidance, answer questions promptly, and offer hands-on assistance—can make a significant difference. I see this as a tremendous opportunity, especially in New England, where small businesses are the backbone of the economy. When employees are supported and engaged, they do better work, which strengthens local economies and helps build stronger, more connected communities.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Kindness, humanity, and building genuine connections are at the heart of everything I do. Even in our hyper-connected, technology-driven world—through platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and FaceTime—people can feel isolated, especially in the wake of COVID. Bringing positive energy into my work, forming authentic connections, and collaborating with others who are committed to doing meaningful work is incredibly rewarding. Giving back has always been important to me; my experience in healthcare and with non-profit organizations has shaped that value. Even now, in a for-profit role, I find ways to contribute, such as through the Young Adult Advisory Council. I firmly believe that supporting and elevating others—giving them time, attention, and care—is how we truly grow and develop, both as individuals and as leaders.
