Her Story

About Madelyn

Madelyn Whitesell began her undergraduate studies in 2020, a year that reshaped how many people approached learning, adaptability, and resilience. She earned her degree in Entrepreneurial Studies in December 2024 and stepped into her first professional role shortly after, relocating from Oklahoma to Las Vegas to pursue opportunities in marketing within the commercial construction industry.

In February 2025, she joined a general contracting firm as a Marketing Coordinator, where she quickly expanded her skill set across brand management, social media, internal communications, and marketing materials. Through hands-on experience, she also developed skills in web design, content strategy, and building systems that support consistency and growth for fast-paced organizations.

Alongside her in-house role, she founded MW Marketing & Co., a freelance marketing studio supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs with strategic marketing, branding, and content creation. This dual perspective allows her to blend structure with creativity and apply real-world execution to every project.

Currently pursuing her MBA, she is focused on strengthening her leadership skills and deepening her understanding of long-term business strategy. She is passionate about helping clients feel confident, supported, and clear in their marketing. She believes the most effective work is thoughtful, human, and built on trust.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Madelyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to consistency, curiosity, and a strong work ethic. I value follow-through, clear communication, and a willingness to keep learning, especially when growth feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Above all, I care deeply about doing my best work. Being able to end the day knowing I showed up fully, acted with integrity, and gave my best effort matters to me more than recognition or shortcuts.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Some of the best career advice I’ve received came from my nanny, who taught me early on that women deserve to take up space, be seen, and be heard, even when it feels uncomfortable or discouraged. She reminds me that in male-dominated industries, women bring perspective, strength, and value that truly matters.

At the same time, my grampy, her husband, offered a different kind of wisdom. He has always encouraged me to work for myself and take ownership of my path. He showed me to observe first, listen closely, and understand the full picture before speaking. Watching him build something of his own from a young age showed me the power of independence, discipline, and self-reliance.

Blending those two perspectives shapes how I approach my career today. I know when to step forward and be heard, and I know when to observe, learn, and move with intention. That balance helps me build trust, lead with confidence, and take ownership of my work in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to ask questions, trust their instincts, and not wait until they feel perfectly qualified to speak up. Confidence grows through experience, not perfection. Never be afraid to take up space, share your perspective, and learn as you go. Your voice and insight are valuable, even early in your career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in marketing is cutting through oversaturated content and increasingly short attention spans. At the same time, there is a major opportunity for brands that prioritize clarity, authenticity, and thoughtful strategy over chasing every trend. As tools like AI become more common, the brands that stand out will be those that use technology intentionally while still valuing genuine connection, human insight, and original thinking.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, clarity, and balance are most important to me. I value doing work I am genuinely proud of, treating people with respect, and building systems that support long-term growth and well-being. My goal is to create work that makes a real difference, the kind of impact where clients and business owners can look back and feel confident that the right systems, support, and strategy were in place.
