Her Story
About Meg
I currently serve as Senior Marketing Manager of Global Campaigns and ABM at Bugcrowd, a position I've held for about a year. Before joining Bugcrowd, I spent two and a half years as Senior Marketing Manager at Veracode, also in the cybersecurity space. My journey into cybersecurity began four years ago, representing a significant career transition from B2C e-commerce, where I had worked across multiple functions including manufacturing, merchandising, and marketing. This diverse background has given me a unique perspective in the cybersecurity industry. My core areas of expertise include account-based marketing (ABM), demand generation, and overall marketing strategy. I earned dual bachelor's degrees in communications and psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2009, and have continued my professional development through certifications including an ABM certification from 6ense and a digital marketing certificate. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to have great mentors like Kiran Dhillon-Byrne and Emily Ferdinando who have helped expand my horizons and form meaningful professional relationships.

Ten minutes with Meg
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think my own work ethic has been fundamental to my success, but I also recognize that having really great mentors along the way has been invaluable. Forming good relationships with people I work with has helped expand my horizons and opened up new opportunities. It's been a combination of my personal drive and the support and guidance I've received from others throughout my career.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say soak up all the knowledge that you can get. Don't compare yourself to others, either in your position or in similar positions. Just work as hard as possible to be the best that you individually can be, regardless of how other people are performing. Focus on your own growth and development rather than measuring yourself against others.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is that it's becoming oversaturated, which makes it difficult to put out a unique message that stands out. However, I think that does create the opportunity to be really creative. Cybersecurity can be seen as kind of a very rigid industry that maybe lacks creativity, but it's actually quite the opposite, because you need to be quite creative to be able to get your message into the market. So I would say the oversaturation is a big challenge, and that gives the opportunity to be creative.
