Her Story
About Melissa
Melissa Williams is a seasoned Operations Manager with over 20 years of experience in HOA and community management, having worked in the industry since 2002. She has built her career from the ground up, advancing through progressive leadership roles and developing a deep understanding of both operational excellence and team development. She currently serves as Operations Manager for a national organization, where she oversees complex, multi-location operations across three Las Vegas-area offices, including Ann 95, Flamingo & 215, and Henderson, while also managing ongoing acquisitions and organizational growth.
Throughout her career, Melissa has been driven less by the transactional nature of the HOA industry and more by the people within it. She finds fulfillment in mentorship, collaboration, and building strong relationships with her teams, which include both on-site staff and outsourced partners in locations such as the Philippines and Mexicali. She places strong emphasis on connection and inclusion, ensuring remote team members feel fully integrated through consistent communication and virtual collaboration, treating every interaction as if the team were working in the same room.
In addition to expanding operational responsibilities including the recent addition of HR leadership to her role Melissa is deeply committed to continuous personal and professional growth. She holds a Master’s in Leadership from Rapport Leadership International, an investment that strengthened her naturally developed leadership abilities, further shaped by the influence of her father, who also led by example in the industry. Today, she applies those lessons to her own leadership style, focusing on empowerment, accountability, and developing strong, connected teams across all levels of the organization.

Ten minutes with Melissa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to tenacity, having thick skin, and not taking anything personally. You know, it really is a man's world, and you have to have that thick skin. You can't take anything personal. Working in this industry has taught me that resilience is key, and you just have to keep pushing forward no matter what challenges or criticism come your way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to always be honest and always be truthful, to come from a place of integrity. I've learned to always remember that this industry, along with many other industries, you're going to run into the same people over and over and over again. So you need to always keep those lines open and maintain good relationships. But what really sticks with me is something my father used to always tell me: perception is everything. He would say, when you're moving along in the world, just remember that perception is everything. People's perception of what they see or what they think might be going on matters, so we always have to be forward-thinking about that and make sure we're aware of what we want that perception to be.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to women entering this industry is to do what you say and be a woman of your word. I mean, that's all you've got is your word, and you need to mean what you say and say what you mean. Don't mince words, and just stand by yourself. Confidence is everything. I'm all about confidence. If you ask anyone about me, one of the first things they're going to tell you is confidence. You also need tenacity and thick skin. Don't take anything personally. You know, it really is a man's world, and you have to have that thick skin. You can't take anything personal in this industry.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I'm very grateful and lucky to have the opportunity to have pivoted from my previous company to this company. One of the challenges I've been facing has been the comparison between the previous company I worked for and this company. That's been something I've had to work through and adjust to as I navigate this new environment.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, integrity, and truthfulness are the core values that guide me in both my professional and personal life. I believe trust is the foundation of every strong relationship, whether with colleagues, team members, clients, or family, and that being consistent, transparent, and accountable is essential in everything I do. In my work, these values influence how I lead, communicate, and make decisions, ensuring fairness, respect, and responsibility even in difficult situations. In my personal life, they keep me grounded and help me maintain meaningful relationships built on trust and mutual respect.
