Her Story

About Morgan

I've been in banking since March of 2018, and I just hit my 8 years this March. Before I started in banking, I was a waitress, and I really just gravitated towards banking because there was an opening in my area. I was very shocked as to how much I love it. It's a very interesting industry, and things are constantly changing, so it really kept me on my toes. It kept my knowledge growing at all times, and so it's definitely been a really fun journey. As a business analyst, I typically build out a couple reports, usually in the morning to kind of get those out. I do a lot of gap analysis, look for trends in some of our reporting, and then engage the appropriate partners to help remove those issues, or the gaps that we're seeing. I also do a lot of communication directly with our different lines of businesses to help kind of find those gaps and those trends early on to help remediate things in the long run. One of my most notable achievements recently was that I did graduate from college, which was something that I didn't think was really in the cards for me years ago. So, being able to get my diploma and walk across that stage was really a huge pivotal point in my career and my educational journey as well.

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think a lot of it's attributed to my ambition. I am a very ambitious person, and I'm very goal-oriented, so whenever I achieve one of my goals, I set myself another goal, whether that be small or big, and I keep working towards it until I achieve it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice that I ever received was that you miss 100% of the opportunities that you don't go for, and most positions that you're not qualified to do, you start off as not qualified for. So there's never a reason to not go for it, to not apply for it, to not put yourself out there.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would really just give the advice to differentiate yourself, and also find a company that's receptive to it. It can be hard working in a male-dominated area, but the best thing that you can do for yourself is really to differentiate yourself from everyone else. And that's how you're gonna get where you need, where you wanna go.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say that one of the biggest challenges is staying on top of all the changes that are constantly occurring in the industry. And the advice that I gave of differentiating yourself, sometimes it can be hard to set yourself apart from everyone else. So it's really important that you really make a point to show everyone why you're different.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would definitely say hard work, so work ethic. Work ethic really walks hand-in-hand between your professional and your personal life. You have to work hard to achieve things, no matter where you are in life. So, whether that be personal, if you're buying a house, if you're looking at getting a car, if you're looking at starting a business, if you are working your way up the ladder in a corporate setting, you have to put in the work to get there.
