Her Story

About Perri

With over 30 years in the pharmacy field, I have built my career around hospital pharmacy, which remains my main area of expertise. I currently work part-time as a CDS district support pharmacist, rotating between different stores in the Myrtle Beach and Myrtle's Inlet area. Every day is different because I'm in different stores all the time, working with different pharmacists, different technicians, and different patients. My career has included serving as lead pharmacist at Conway Hospital and spending three years at Duke VA Medical Center before I had children. I also worked doing immunizations during the COVID times starting in 2021-2022. What I'm most proud of professionally is educating families and writing different programs for hospital organizations that I've worked in in the past that didn't have any programs for patient education or family patient education. I've spent a lot of time on that, helping patients and families understand their medicines and what's involved with going home. Recently, I've completed a very tough CPR course through Red Cross and qualified for an NPI number, along with other administrative requirements. Right now, I'm working on getting my resume upgraded so that everything I've done is on it.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to raising great kids. My daughter is a physician, and my son is a dentist, so I put a lot of time and effort into raising kids, and it's really paid off. They can take care of themselves and they're doing real well, so I can't complain. They both have great jobs. I also have four grandchildren that I adore - they're all so smart. I'm contributing to helping raise them too, working with those smart little minds.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to show up and be prepared. That's the Girl Scout saying - be prepared.
