Her Story

About Rosanna

When I graduated from college as a chemistry major, I decided to join the Peace Corps, where I was a teacher in Tanzania for two and a half years teaching chemistry at an all-girls school. After that experience, I decided I wanted to go into law, so I came back to the United States and ended up getting a Master's in International Policy Studies at Stanford. Then I went to law school at Columbia and started practicing at a law firm called Davis Polk and Wardwell. After that, I went in-house to Google, where I was for a little over 14 years. I just moved to NVIDIA in January, so I've been here for about 3 months or so. Now I manage a team of experienced and incredibly talented lawyers, and part of my job is just making sure that they continue to do great work, get great pitches to swing at, and are able to use their talents to contribute to the company. I also help on a variety of other legal topics that impact the company.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rosanna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think it has a lot to do with the people who supported me when I was growing up and then later in life. My mom was just a constant advocate for me. She made sure I had every opportunity available in terms of education and growth, and I didn't come from a wealthy family, but it was just something she prioritized - just education and opportunity. Later, my husband was a great supporter of mine. He stayed home so that I could continue my career, and he was always just a huge champion of mine. So I think if it weren't for my mom and my husband, I wouldn't be where I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I think it involves staying curious - being willing to look at everything as an opportunity to learn and grow, and not letting your title dictate what you think you can accomplish or what you can do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think it would be to stay curious, remain open, and don't be shy about sharing your views. You're in the room for a reason, so exercise your voice. Be curious, be hardworking, and speak up.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the biggest challenges are helping people see the enormous opportunity that technology brings in making people's lives better. I think there's kind of a doomer mindset around AI right now, and I've always been an optimist, especially an optimist around technology and its potential to make people's lives better. So helping people understand that opportunity and help harness it, I think, is a big challenge and also maybe one of the biggest opportunities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think just operating with integrity and honesty, and taking care of the people around you, especially the people who rely on you day-to-day. I think those are the big ones.
