Her Story
About Sabrina
With a career rooted in the high-stakes environments of Oil & Energy and Construction, Sabrina has spent nearly two decades mastering the art of the complex negotiation. Today, as a Senior Contracts Manager at AWS, she has translated that grit into the digital frontier. She doesn't just manage contracts; she builds the legal infrastructure that allows global giants to innovate at scale. Her unique vantage point as a foreign attorney in the U.S. tech space allows her to act as a "cultural and legal translator," harmonizing the rigorous demands of Latin American regulators with the fast-paced evolution of Cloud and AI technology. Sabrina believes that the strength of a global organization lies in the empowerment of its foundational tiers. This belief sparked her award-winning initiative to revolutionize the "Legal Assistant" career path at AWS. By identifying and automating redundant processes, she successfully shifted her team’s focus from administrative tasks to high-value legal support. This wasn't just an operational win—it was a move for equity, providing her colleagues with the professional runway to pursue their own career ambitions."True leadership is found in the removal of obstacles. When we simplify the complex—whether it’s a billion-dollar AI contract or a junior colleague’s daily workflow—we unlock the potential for true innovation."
Recognition for Sabrina often comes from the peers she has elevated. As the co-founder of the AWS Contracts Manager Community, she has built a global sanctuary for knowledge-sharing that transcends geographical borders. Her colleagues recognize her as the "go-to" resource for simplification—not because she has all the answers, but because she has the unique ability to see a path through the most dense regulatory fog.
Her recent AWS Legal Team Award stands as a testament to this philosophy: that an influential leader is one who leaves the industry better, more efficient, and more inclusive than they found it.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sabrina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my journey to a relentless pursuit of scalability through simplicity. Throughout my career, I have found that true impact is not found in managing complexity, but in the courage to deconstruct it. My success is rooted in a 'systems-first' mindset: the ability to look at a dense regulatory or operational hurdle and see a path toward a more efficient, global solution. I have always believed that if a process does not empower the people executing it, it is a process that needs to be reimagined.
Ultimately, my most significant achievements have been a byproduct of my commitment to mentorship as a strategy. I believe that one’s influence is only as strong as the community they build. By focusing on workforce equity—removing the administrative friction that stalls growth and replacing it with meaningful professional runway—I have been able to foster environments where innovation and people can thrive together. My success is not merely a reflection of the challenges I have solved, but of the leaders I have helped empower along the way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most transformative advice I ever received was: 'Don’t build a career; build an ecosystem.'
Early on, I realized that individual achievement has a ceiling, but systemic influence is limitless. This shifted my focus from being an expert practitioner to being a multiplier of talent. It taught me that my legacy wouldn't be the contracts I signed, but the barriers I removed for those coming up behind me.
This advice is why I prioritize workforce equity and community building. When you invest in the professional dignity of your team—by ensuring their work is meaningful and their path to advancement is clear—you aren't just managing a team; you are strengthening the entire organization. True influence is found in the success of the people you have empowered to lead in your wake.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To the young women entering the intersection of law and technology, my advice is simple: Don’t just learn the rules; learn to architect the systems that govern them. In a highly regulated field, it is easy to fall into the role of a 'executor' who simply follows established paths. However, the most influential women in this industry are those who dare to ask, 'Is this process serving our people and our progress?' If the answer is no, you must have the courage to dismantle and rebuild it. Whether you are navigating global contracts or internal workflows, your goal should be to create velocity and clarity.
Furthermore, invest in the growth of those around you as early as possible. Leadership is not a title you wait for; it is an action you take. By advocating for the professional dignity of your peers and simplifying the path for those coming up behind you, you build a reputation as a 'multiplier.' In this industry, your technical expertise will get you into the room, but your ability to empower others and scale efficiency is what will keep you at the table. Remember: you are not just entering an industry; you are here to evolve it
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
In the current landscape of global tech and legal operations, I see two defining forces: the acceleration of Artificial Intelligence and the crisis of professional scalability.
The greatest challenge—and simultaneously our greatest opportunity—is the harmonization of innovation with global regulation. As technologies like Generative AI and machine learning evolve faster than the laws governing them, our field is tasked with a monumental responsibility: we must be the architects of trust. We are no longer just negotiating agreements; we are establishing the ethical and legal guardrails for data sovereignty and privacy. The opportunity here is for legal leaders to move from being 'risk-mitigators' to being strategic enablers who help central banks and global institutions embrace the future with confidence.
However, we cannot scale these technologies if we do not first scale our people. Our industry faces a significant challenge in workforce burnout and administrative overload. I believe the path forward lies in operational equity. By automating the redundant and empowering our teams—especially our junior colleagues and legal assistants—to engage in high-value, strategic work, we unlock a level of human potential that technology alone cannot replace. The future belongs to those who can simplify the complex while ensuring that the humans behind the systems have the professional dignity and 'runway' to grow alongside the innovation they support.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In both my work and my personal life, I am guided by three non-negotiable values: Integrity of Purpose, Empowerment, and Scalability.
Integrity of Purpose is the foundation of everything I do. In the high-stakes world of global contracts and emerging technology, your word is your most valuable asset. To me, integrity means more than just compliance; it means being a 'strategic architect of trust.' Whether I am navigating a complex regulatory landscape or mentoring a colleague, I believe in being transparent, consistent, and deeply committed to the 'why' behind the work.
Empowerment is the lens through which I view leadership. I believe that true influence is not about the power you hold, but the power you share. This value is what drives my advocacy for workforce equity. I am passionate about removing the administrative friction that stalls growth, ensuring that every person on my team—from legal assistants to senior peers—has the professional dignity and the 'runway' to pursue their highest potential.
Finally, I value Scalability. I am a firm believer that if a solution doesn't work for the many, it isn't truly a solution. I approach every challenge with the goal of creating a 'multiplier effect.' Whether I am building a global professional community or a new legal framework, I aim to create systems that outlast my individual contribution. I measure my success by the efficiency I leave behind and the leaders I have helped empower to take my place.
