Her Story

About Sherri

My passion has always been helping people and finding solutions for what they need and want. That's what originally led me to hospitality 30 years ago. I've worked in hotels, restaurants, and spent 18 years as a cocktail server here in Las Vegas before moving into timeshare sales. Today, I work with Wyndham upselling existing timeshare owners. I find out what their challenges are, why things aren't working for them, and then I find solutions. It's about showing them that overcoming their pain point is more valuable than the financial responsibility they're taking on. I genuinely like to know what the concerns of the guest are and go above and beyond to find a solution for that. Seeing their gratitude and knowing they're satisfied with the product I presented to them is a big win for me. I'm a self-motivated individual who doesn't need a lot of guidance or micromanaging. I respect my integrity and my work ethic, and I make sure that is sustainable and known. I don't deviate from that. My empathy, my compassion, my work ethic, and my due diligence are what drive my success. I always keep the end game goal in mind: Are they happy? Did I fulfill what I was supposed to do? The money will come. You have to be on point at all times because you have a job because they're there.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my empathy, my compassion, my work ethic, and my due diligence. I always have the end game goal being: Are they happy? Did I fulfill what I was supposed to do to get the end result? The money will come. I don't have bullet points on how you're gonna get there. You have to be on point at all times because you have a job because they're there. It's not about being good one day and then being a jerk the next day. That doesn't work that way. You have to make them happy, and everything will follow. But you can't be a pushover either. You have to have a skill set. I'm definitely a self-motivated individual who doesn't need a lot of guidance or micromanaging. I respect my integrity and my work ethic, and I make sure that is sustainable and also known. I don't deviate from that.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've received came from my brother Frank. He taught me to navigate through people who don't want you to succeed or don't want you to outshine them. When you're in that position and that atmosphere, you go off by yourself. Keep 6 inches between your brain and don't pollute it with the baloney and water cooler bologna. You come back in with a clear mind and you're good to go. Stay away from everybody and just focus on you. They can say you're snobbish or whatever the case is, who cares? They're not funding your paycheck, so who cares? I would very much probably lean towards wanting to have a commonality with coworkers in a group setting, but he guided me to stay focused on myself instead.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Try a lot of different fields and see what genuinely feels good. It's not just 'I've got a job.' It's 'I cannot wait to go to work. I've got this and this and this to do, I'm so excited.' Have that conviction, not just 'oh, this is another job.' No, this is progressing to a future career that I really enjoy doing. Try a lot, try different things, and see where your niche is. It could be anything from marketing to front desk person, banquets, or food service. You kind of have to be wrapped around a little bit and see where you sit best. Don't just go for the mass majority or the highest paying sales job if you're not meant to be in that field.
