Her Story
About Trisha
I grew up in church with my dad as a pastor, so the church thing has always been important to me. There was a part of my journey that I got away from the church, and when I was on my recovery road, I got connected back with the church. As I was looking for work, I just really felt pulled in that direction. I had some good support that had some openings, and they asked me to come check it out. I started on operations at the church, and then just have worked my way up into the role that I'm in now, which is the administrative role and care role. What calls out to me is my role with our care team. That's what really has held me here at this job - working with our care team and with the community, and helping others or trying to help others. My biggest strength and love is just working with the serving teams and care. I just really feel like it's been my sweet spot with people - just to know people, and learn about their journeys, and just dig into healthy relationships. I'm going to be 51 this year, so it's so important to me to really dive into healthy relationships and just be able to support people that are struggling. I've been the one struggling and had support, so it's just life-giving to me to be on the giving end of that in some way, or just even like a cog in that whole machine. That's my biggest strength and joy at this point in my life - it's just really giving back what was given to me.

Ten minutes with Trisha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think for me, it was just the stepping out of my comfort zone that made this role also just one of my favorite roles. It's not necessarily any one thing, but the journey and the risk-taking. My human brain was like, that's a huge risk - what if you fail? You've been doing perfectly fine at what you're doing, are you sure you want to put yourself out there? And I was like, yes, I do. I just wanted more. I wanted to do more than what I was doing. I was on operations team for 5 years, and this role opened up - super out of my comfort zone to say, I'm gonna step out, and I'm gonna try to get this job. I was coming in and cleaning up after everybody, and doing setups for their events, so it was really out of my comfort zone to say, hey, you guys don't know this about me, but I'm a really good admin. I just stepped out and did it. Now I'm about 2 and a half years into this role, and all the time, a couple of my supervisors are just like, I can't believe we had no idea the things that you could accomplish in this role, and change, and just really dive into. I feel like this is where God has me. I don't know where He wants me tomorrow, but I feel like, so far, I'm where he wants me to be, and where I can best serve everyone that I meet in some way, hopefully.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Healthy relationships are so important to me. I'm gonna be 51 this year, so it's just so important to me to really dive into healthy relationships and just be able to support people that are struggling. I've been the one struggling and had support, so it's just life-giving to me to be on the giving end of that in some way, or just even like a cog in that whole machine of that. My biggest joy is just being with friends and family, whether we're sitting in the backyard, just around the table, just talking and laughing and doing nothing, or whether it's having all of my kids over. I look around, and I'm like, we're good today. I feel like I'm in a space where I'm comfortable with me, and the people in my life, I'm happy that they're in my life. Every day, I look at my kids, and I was just like, okay, thank you. Thank you for the lives that we have. I don't know that I would have written it this way if I had a chance to write it out in a storybook before it happened, but man, I wouldn't change a thing. I just want them to be healthy, successful, and happy. If you want to make a lot of money, then you gotta put in the time, and if you just don't care, and you just want to pay the bills and be okay, like that, that's fine too.
