When Plan B Became Better Than Plan A

Letting go of what you've known is scary, yet the known was never supposed to be permanent. Your N.E.X.T just might be your best chapter yet.
I have learned through aging and faith that God's plan, "Plan B," is the one intended to fulfill the desire of my heart. Therefore, He closes doors that I'm vigorously kicking to open "Plan A." Yay, God!
I never planned to leave my classroom for an administrative desk, but thanks to a brilliant mentor who pushed me to lead, my biggest professional plot twist became a 25 year career I deeply loved and it was my greatest plot win!
My Plan B was never a different career; it was giving myself permission to grow beyond the version of the career I already knew. The people I met, the relationships I built around the world, and the trust others placed in me kept expanding what I thought was possible until I realized I didn't have to wait for someone else to define the next version of my work, I could build it myself. That shift, from following a path to creating one, changed everything.
The plan B, I found that in those moments that I use to fear, there was opportunity to be more, and help. It was the freedom of getting out of the way and stopping myself before it even started.
Never let the challenge define what is possible. Challenge yourself to see beyond the obstacle and focus on the possibilities ahead. Your Plan B may turn out to be the opportunity you never knew you needed.
My Plan B was leaving the corporate path I had spent years building and starting my own consulting firm. What felt like a door closing became an invitation to build something of my own, and I found that sometimes the path you hadn't planned for is the one that brings you closer to the life you were meant to create.
