When She Forgave Someone Who Never Apologized
Finding a way forward without receiving the closure she expected.
Finding a way forward without receiving the closure she expected.
I found peace when I stopped waiting for an apology that might never come. Forgiveness allowed me to release the pain, reclaim my power, and move forward unapologetically.
I learned that closure doesn't always come from the person who hurts you. Sometimes healing begins when you stop waiting for them to acknowledge what happened and give yourself permission to move forward without the apology you deserved.
I stopped waiting when I realized closure was not something another person could withhold, it was permission I could give myself. Peace began when I released the need for them to acknowledge the harm and chose instead to honor what I survived, protect what I had rebuilt, and move forward without their understanding.
Healing began when I stopped treating closure like something owed to me and started treating peace like something I could choose. I learned that an apology may explain the past, but my freedom comes from deciding I no longer need their acknowledgment to move forward.
We all make the same mistake, giving our heart away to a person that can never give us the true love we need. The Bible says guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life. (Proverb 4:23) I did and never looked back.
I stopped waiting for an apology and chose peace. Forgiveness did not excuse the pain, it released me from it. That was my closure.
Sometimes apologies come in different ways and go unseen or unknown. Most are so quick to assume the worst immediately because they had been wronged so many times before. Growing up, we have all heard that "Actions Speak Louder Than Words." I never really understood what that meant until recently in life. So many apologize without sincerity! Easy to say. The only true closure I have found is through forgiveness. You do not need them to forgive you, you need to forgive them for you. The more you forgive, the freer you feel!
Healing came when I stopped looking to people for the acceptance and affirmation that God had already given me. I may never receive the apology or acknowledgment I hoped for, but I can still walk forward knowing I am fully known, fully loved, and fully accepted by Him.
Dig deep when you need to, the only person that can change a situation is you. If it doesn't make your soul happy, remove yourself and start fresh. Only include people in your circle that add to your life, support you, and cheer you on every step of the way. Those are your people.
Forgiving someone who never apologized is painful, especially when you know you didn't deserve what happened. But life goes on, with or without an apology. I've learned that you can't make someone take accountability for their actions, but you can choose not to let their actions control your future. Some things will always leave a mark, but they don't have to define you. I may never get the closure I deserved, but I refuse to let someone else's actions determine the rest of my story.
