Her Story

About Amanda

I'm an Energy Transformation Consultant at Siemens Energy, where I've been for just over seven months now. What we do is techno-economic-based modeling and analysis and consulting services for energy-related projects, which is really broad. We can do anything from forecasting electricity prices to seeing the impact of large load interconnection, or evaluating technical site feasibility for renewable energy interconnection. I think it's a really pivotal time to be in the energy industry because we're at the point of a really large transition that's going to have a really large impact on our day-to-day life, as well as impact on the environment. It's just a really exciting time to be in a space where there's so much potential for impact. What I love most about my job is that we get to work on a wide range of projects. Because the energy sector is so broad, and there's so many different technologies and different ways to look at energy, different regions of the world, even different markets within the United States, there's just so much diversity of analysis that we're able to explore being in this unique role of consultants. It always stays fresh.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'd say that though there's definitely going to be a lot of bumps along the road, especially being a woman sometimes, it is hard to be the minority in a group of people, but I think in the end, it's definitely worth it. Yeah, it's going to be hard, but it's going to be worth it. There's always going to be challenges in terms of communication, and the way that women communicate and are included is just different from the way men communicate and are included. So that's always frustrating and challenging.
