Her Story
About Rezvan
I started my journey in media communication a couple years back when I was in college. Initially, I was pursuing dentistry and bio, wanting to have my own dental office and clinic. But I'm Christian, and faith is huge for me, and I really felt like the Lord was calling me in a different direction, so I followed that direction and it led me into media communication. Now I work as an associate for my local church where I do discipleship, and alongside that, I do a lot of the marketing and advertisement, all the communication for the college ministry. Outside of my church work, I'm a freelance photographer. I like to capture the real, genuine life experiences of people who are graduating, families, couples, and I do some weddings here and there. That allows me to step out of the office and just be me, and engage with people and hear their stories. My whole philosophy behind my photography is to capture real, genuine people. In a world where we live that's filled with so much AI tools and things that may not even look real, I like to be the one that says, no, I actually want to capture the real. I lead a life group of girls who are around certain ages, and we talk about real life issues, we talk about the Bible, and we talk about what it means to be a woman in this age and day and time, and how to take that and make God the center of the work that you do, but on top of that, be able to grow spiritually but also be successful in the world. I travel a lot - I'm actually going to Indonesia in March for a mission trip. I'm kind of all over the place at times because I like to be open-handed and see what the Lord brings into my life. But the main goal for me for the future is to have a production company, and so the traveling and working at the church and being involved in women's lives and other people is for me to be able to gain their stories and perspectives, so that one day I can take that into the production world that I want to create.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say God. I think God is the motivation and the strive for everything that I do. I'm a strong believer that what is for you will come to you, and I believe that that force is through God, so what's for me is what God wants for me, and it aligns with His path for my life. Anything that I have in life, the jobs that I have, the relationships I'm part of, the education that I have, the location of where I live, and the family that I have, all come from the Lord. That's my biggest drive, because I think that we live in a unique world where so many of us are lost and we don't have an anchor to be tied to, and we don't know what we're from or what we're capable of, but we have an entire book that tells us what we are and where we're from, and who we belong to, and how to live our lives. I've seen it firsthand with my family and myself, and just the way that the Lord has worked in my life, I cannot not attribute my motivation and drive to God. Everything I do comes from him. I mean, the fact that I work at a church after college, the reason I do this is because he is my drive.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think the best advice I could give is to be open-handed. I think as women, we're always told that you take one route, and you just take it, and you go, and you run after it. But we come with so many multiverse ideas and skills and perspectives. When you step out of that square box that they've created for you, and you say, okay, I want to do something different, and I want to figure out what that is, and I want to do all the other things and figure that out through it, you meet so many interesting people, you gain so many different skills and experiences you never thought you could as a woman, or in general. And then when you step out of that comfort zone and you're open-handed, the opportunities that are for you, and you're seeking them, they come to you. And I think that's huge, because when you open yourself to that, instead of just keeping yourself closed in that one box, you're no longer the one looking for the opportunity, the opportunities come looking for you. I've seen that happen in so many different seasons and experiences and timelines, not even just mine, other people too. But I think as women, we're very much prone to just stick to that one route or rule or rulebook that someone gives us, and then we just think that that's the only way to go up and succeed and make your voice heard, but you actually have so many more opportunities and skills that come out of stepping out of your comfort zone.
