About Rosemarie
I am an author, poet, and legal professional. Since March 2009, I have been the author of One Single Rose, a collection of poetry that blossomed from a place of heartache and grew into a mission of healing and motivation. The journey began in 2005 after experiencing yet another heartbreak, with my first poem entitled "Travel and Labor." As I wrote more poems in that vein, I was able to let go of the past by self-motivating so that I could perhaps motivate others.
One Single Rose is divided into three vital sections: Learning, Living, and Loving. Pre-released motivational poems like "Can't = Won't," "Love You!," and "Don't Let Anything or Anyone Steal Your Joy" come from three very important lessons I learned as a child. First, if you say you can't, you won't. Second, love comes from within and spreads to others—love you, no matter what. Third, if you allow others to steal your joy, they'll control your life.
My goal when I began the journey of One Single Rose was to reach at least one person with my writings. In 2008, prior to the book's release, I authored a MySpace blog in response to a troubled teenager who was sexually abused. Somehow, a teen from Montana who had contemplated suicide read the blog and told me I helped her make it through a tough time. If One Single Rose touched no one when it was released almost a year later, my goal had already been fulfilled.
I believe each of us holds keys to unlock our destinies. We are all winners. Embrace positivity and let negativity push you forward to greatness.
My more recent releases include One Single Rose Out of Darkness Into Light, Pearl's Plays, and "Priceless" Poet Tees, available on my website. I have also released two CDs: Poetic Truth on iTunes and Straight Up No Chaser.
Alongside my writing career, I have worked as a Legal Administrative Assistant at Miller Canfield since July 2005—nearly 21 years. Prior to that, I served as a Legal Assistant at Plunkett & Cooney, P.C. from 2000 to 2005. From 2013 to 2017, I hosted open mic poetry at Spotlight at Manila Bay Cafe in Detroit, Michigan.
I hold a B.S. in Management from Davenport University and studied Business Administration at West Virginia State University. Across my life and career—whether in law offices, on poetry stages, or through the pages of my books—my work has always been about connection, healing, and helping others find their own light. I write because I have to. I share because I care. And I keep going because someone out there needs to hear that they can, too.
