What do you attribute your success to?
I would say that my mom is a very successful interior designer, and she's been such an incredible example for me. Her work ethic is just amazing. She's 80, and she's still decorating huge homes for people. She's so young at heart, and she's such a go-getter. I've just had such a great example in her, and I'm just grateful to have had it, because it's really helped me understand the kind of woman I want to be.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in real estate is standing apart in an industry where poor practices by some agents can negatively impact clients and their trust in the process. There is also the challenge of navigating personal loss while continuing to lead and grow a team, as well as delivering difficult messages to clients with honesty and care. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities to rebuild and expand the team and to continue philanthropic work connected to housing, homelessness, and youth programs.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Top of everything for me is integrity, for sure. I think the way I handle my business and personal life is that I don't try to tell a client what they want to hear. I tell them the truth. I think it's my job to give them the kind of support they need. It's not always the news they want, either. Honesty, integrity, and loyalty to what's best for the relationship and what's best for their property is just kind of how I operate. I can't stand the thought of something bad happening to somebody because of a realtor's fault. I think you really do have to set yourself apart, not only in expertise, but in just how you handle people and how you deliver messages that aren't always the best messages sometimes. You gotta do it the right way, and put their ultimate goals always, always first.
