Her Story
About Sylvia
My background is in higher education, and I was inspired to impact education in different ways outside of typical student affairs experiences. When the opportunity came up at KPMG to do change management work, I jumped towards it. I've been with KPMG since January of 2022, and in my time there, I've had the opportunity to work in areas of education, but also in state and local government and healthcare. They've kept me busy, and it's been very exciting. We are a very large firm, but it's been awesome to be able to learn from folks who are above me, but also be able to mentor those who are coming in after me as well. I do end up doing client travel in general as part of my work.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think an exciting challenge is definitely the introduction of AI, really trying to figure out how can we continue to support organizations as AI continues to evolve, but also make sure that we're using it effectively to make sure that we're effectively contributing to clients. But also not losing that human touch. At the end of the day, change is about people, and so making sure that you still have that human touch that AI can help supplement is something that is never going to go away, and so making sure that folks are holding on to those more human skills on top of AI is super important.
