Her Story
About Venetia
I have been working with Sister Nomics for over 4 years now, and we're scaling up where we were just doing planning, coming together as a team of 3 other women, creating economic engagement for women entrepreneurs and those in startup phases. We educate them on financial literacy, collaborations, partnerships, and how to scale their business with a strong foundation in banking and investment. I'm a business collaborative specialist, collaborating with other women in business. I work with Metro Detroit Sister Circle, a group of over 300 women coming together, some entrepreneurs and some in corporate, creating events that help us move along in our personal journey, our career, our entrepreneur endeavors, and our personal lives. I'm the owner of my own publishing company, Strength for the Journey publishing, where I have published 3 books and we do podcast series focused on women's empowerment, self-help, and personal growth. I am a business mentor to youth through my Born to Reign program, mentoring a family of two girls and two boys who have published their first book under my company and have a jewelry company. We meet once a month, go out in the community, set up pop-ups, and I help them with vendor events. I also work part-time at a community organization called Daybo that works with the community to supply resources, medical, food, clothing, and community enrichment programs.

Ten minutes with Venetia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I was always led to help individuals to grow, to be better. Even as a young lady growing up, I was led to do tutoring and had my own tutoring company where I tutored children with dyslexia, because my children have dyslexia and it's genetic. Because of that, I homeschooled my four children and graduated them all from my own school, the Chosen Educational Center, where I educated my children. But it wasn't just a homeschool project, it was a community project, because they went to libraries, organizations, and foundations to learn. Just doing that, I met so many people who just needed a little help, just needed some resources, so that's why I've been led to do the work that I do.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In my business, we move collectively, and that's the whole point of what we're doing. We make decisions together as a team. Any decisions that affect me will affect them, and we have to discuss it. It's within our business plan. It's not about them saying yes or no, it's about me giving a disclosure.
