I never felt jealousy or envy when I saw another woman succeeding in her career. The first thing I thought is, "good for her and yay for us women". I need to pay attention to what that woman is doing to be so successful.

The women who've had the greatest impact on my career weren't competing for space. They were opening doors, asking better questions, and expanding the way I think. That's the kind of success worth contributing to.

When a female colleague who I had mentored won a prestigious award, I realized that her success was also my success and a reflection of the impact I was making.

Comparison once quietly shaped how I saw myself, convincing me I had to strive, prove my worth, and compete for what felt scarce. But God gently revealed that what He has ordained for me requires neither striving nor comparison, only faith and obedience. As I surrendered, Christ illuminated the vision for Chara Yoga & Wellness Collaborative, teaching me that when we choose celebration over competition, we step into the abundance and unity of His Kingdom.

For me, the shift from comparison to collaboration happened when I realized that championing another woman's success doesn't diminish my own; It simply makes the room accessible and brighter for everyone!

I stopped seeing other women as competition when I realized that every woman who succeeds creates a wider path for the women coming behind her. Collaboration didn't lessen my influence; it multiplied it.

I once knew a powerful and beautiful woman named Kathleen. She was kind, hard working and the only one who made me feel welcome. I was 18 years old then, and one of my dreams was to become a powerful leader just like she was. I thought I could learn this goal by reading books or attending an expensive school but the best training for me was observing her and hope that I could become half of who she was. "Another woman's success is a mirror showing us what is possible for ourselves, not a shadow diminishing our own light".

I spent a decade as the only woman on a twelve-person engineering team at a tech company, and without realizing it at the time, I'd absorbed the belief that there was only one seat at the table for a woman, so another woman's success felt like competition for mine. Then a senior woman in my org nominated me for Women Unlimited, a six-month leadership program, so I'd have the chance to grow my leadership alongside other women. That first in-person gathering was the first time in my career I felt real camaraderie with other women, all of us early in our careers, all of us ambitious, all of us there because someone had made the case for us. The scarcity mindset didn't survive that room. Twenty years later, I'm still looking for strong female leaders to collaborate and grow alongside, and I make it a point to do for younger women what that senior woman did for me.

For years, I've led teams made up entirely of women, and I've learned that the strongest teams are built by eliminating drama, addressing misunderstandings immediately, and choosing collaboration over competition. True leadership isn't about gender. It's about empowering others, strengthening your knowledge every day, and creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow.

I've never believed in comparison; Admiration, yes, but never comparison. We may offer the same services, but people do business with people; when the synergy is better with someone else, it's not personal. A win is a win, and I'll celebrate every woman who works for hers.
