What She Learned From Watching Her Mother Work
The lessons she absorbed before she even knew she was learning them.
The lessons she absorbed before she even knew she was learning them.
Watching my mother taught me that work was more than a paycheck; it was about responsibility, resilience, and creating opportunities for the people you love. She showed me that a woman can carry a lot, dream bigger, and still make sure her family knows what it means to work hard and never give up.
My mother had been a legal secretary, and her attention to detail rubbed off. However, what I remember best was her ability to fill a room with love whenever she entered. Her smile and laughter were contagious, calming hostilities and resolving potential problems. Thanks, Mom.
What I learned from my mother is to listen. My mother always listened to me. I felt heard and loved.
My mother taught me that you don't sit around waiting for life to happen. When we were kids and got antsy, she would tell us, "Go read a book. Do something constructive with your life." Those words have stayed with me, reminding me to keep learning, keep growing, and always strive to become the best version of myself.
My mother's work ethics and loyalty to her job was impeccable. No matter where I have ever worked in life, I put my all into leaving my mark, making a difference, and having pride in the job I have done.
A mother/caregiver's influence extends beyond the home, uniting knowledge, values, and opportunity through continued work toward a shared purpose: building a stronger foundation for lasting family prosperity.
My parents have always been the blueprint for my success, but watching my mother shows me what determination truly looks like. She earned her Master's degree while raising three children and still worked incredibly hard to provide for us. That determination carried over to my sister, who worked two jobs while attending two schools full time and graduated Summa Cum Laude from both. Watching the women in my family taught me that hard work isn't just something you talk about, it's something you live. Now, as a mother of three pursuing my own Master's Degree, I realize I'm continuing what they showed me. Their example taught me that being a mother and having responsibilities doesn't mean putting your dreams aside. If anything, it gives you an even bigger reason to keep going.
Watching my mother at work showed me the importance of dedication to success and a relentless passion to succeed regardless of any difficulties which may come your way.
My mother had a heart of gold. Her love for others and caring for people was an inspiration and a foundation to my ambition and purpose. She taught me what it truly means to live a life centered on love and generosity, shaping the very mission behind my work today to help others achieve a completely healthy, fulfilled life.
