When She Realized She Worked Differently Than Everyone Else
Discovering the conditions that helped her do her best work.
Discovering the conditions that helped her do her best work.
From as early as I can remember, my mother used to tell me, "It helps to talk," after we'd had a conversation that had helped me think things through. Through this early connection, I came to trust myself. While I continue to benefit from thinking collaboratively, I no longer always require this reflective mirror, and trust myself more thoroughly moment-to-moment as the years march on.
I found out by noticing that some tasks were easier than others. This discernment helped me be more productive each day and know when I was at capacity and needed to ask for support or assistance.
For me I need to be around people for my best work! I turn the TV on for back ground noise if I am working from home which keeps me from being "alone". Also I think best in the shower…as far as coming up with decisions…. Realizing this helps me stay focused!
I realized early on that quiet spaces help me think clearly and stay motivated. By honoring that need, I became more focused, efficient, and confident in the quality of my work and my performance naturally improved.
I realized I work best when I have space to process ideas independently before bringing them into collaboration. Honoring that rhythm has helped me contribute with more clarity, confidence, and intention.
I learned that I work best in quiet and with others. It truly depends on what I'm working on. If it's writing, it's best in quiet but if it's something that calls for varying perspectives and approaches, I prefer collaboration. I honor the ways of being with quiet reflection and sharing my thoughts and ideas with others which opens the door to collaboration.
